clothing

Throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, we see Tenshinhan wear the color scheme of greens, reds, and whites. The Tsuru-senryû gi resembles a kung-fu jacket, green with red accents. The ever-so-trendy, bowl-shaped hat is reminiscent of a traditional black and has a red pouf-thing on top (Most curiously, Tenshinhan stops wearing the hat after he denounces Tsuru-sennin’s ways, while Chaozu remains rather attached to it. In fact, the surcoat itself is seen worn by Chaozu as late as the Cell arc - though the character emblazoned upon the front is different.)

As the series progresses and begins to move away from its roots in Chinese legend, both Tenshinhan and Chaozu are shown wearing a white sleeveless shirt and green pants with a red belt. Their boots are black with white edges, and both wear yellow, or white depending on the image and/or source, bands around their ankles. Tenshinhan often fights shirtless, even in Dragon Ball.

During the Cell arc, Tenshinhan wears this thing that resembles... a toga. Seriously. It covers half of his torso, hanging over his left shoulder and effectively revealing his scar, which runs across his right chest. However, once the Cell Games begin, he’s back to his old style, but this time, he wears a short-sleeved white shirt rather than a sleeveless one. The Cell Games look is a personal favorite of mine...

Tenshinhan utilizes layers while training in the wilds, which is likely because he is shown living in the mountains. His gi is dark blue or green (once again determined by the image and/or source - anime or manga) and he wears a white or brown cape. It looks quite nice on him.
