Dragon Ball is a manga that features a broad spectrum of martial arts. Tenshinhan himself contributed quite a number of unique and widely-used techniques to the DB universe. Let’s dive in and see what exactly makes up Tenshinhan’s powerhouse arsenal!

かめはめ波 Kamehameha The Kamehameha is the signature move of those trained under Kame-sennin. It’s a mighty blast of energy that the user shots from his plams. Tenshinhan surprises Kame-sennin by being able to use the Kamehameha during their match at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budôkai.

気合い消し Kiai Keshi The user shouts, negating his opponent’s energy blast. Tenshinhan makes use of this technique during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budôkai against Tao Pai Pai’s so-called invincible Super Dodonpa.

気功砲 Kikôhô Tenshinhan is famous for his Kikôhô, in which he shoots an immense blast of energy from a triangle he shapes with his hands. The Kikôhô is a double-edged sword, because while it is powerful, it can also kill Tenshinhan. Its deadlier side is seen during the battle with Nappa, against whom Tenshinhan uses it and gives his life.

光線眼 Kôsengan The Kôsengan is a thin beam of energy which is shot from the eyes. Tenshinhan fires it from his third eye. He uses it only once in the manga, during the 23rd World Tournament. Other notable users include Piccolo and Freeza.

四身の拳 Shishin no Ken Another Tenshinhan-exclusive, which he reveals during the 23rd World Tournament. It is his ability to create four solid copies of himself. Each clone can attack, defend - and speak - at fourfold. However, Goku figures out the two major weaknesses of this unique maneuver: Tenshinhan’s speed and 12 eyes.

四妖拳 Shiyôken The technique that gets everybody talking at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budôkai is the Shiyôken. As you can see by the picture, Tenshinhan literally sprouts an extra pair of arms from his shoulders, consequently doubling his attack and evasion. Too bad he forgets that Goku has a tail...!

新気功砲 Shin Kikôhô The Shin Kikôhô is a pumped up version of the Kikôhô. In fact, the first character, shin, means “new.” This attack is much more powerful than its predecessor and no less dangerous for Tenshinhan to use. In the manga and anime, he expends his energy holding Imperfect Cell back.

太陽拳 Taiyôken A special Tsuru-senryû technique where the user fans his hands to both sides of his face and unleashes the power of the sun! Blinding sunlight is reflected into an enemy’s eyes, leaving him momentarily incapacitated. It creates a handy diversion on several occasions, as it is utilized by Goku, Kuririn, and Cell.

どどん波 Dodonpa The Crane’s equivalent to the Turtle’s Kamehameha, in that it is only taught to students of that school. The Dodonpa is an explosive beam that is fired from the forefinger. It has the tendency to nullify the Kamehameha whenever both are used at the same time.

排球拳 Haikyûken Tenshinhan first announces this attack like a total goober - heart mark and all, before he bumps, sets, pummels, and spikes his target (Goku) just like a volleyball around the Tenkaichi Budôkai arena. ♥ Tenshinhan uses it only once, and later, a technique of its kind is employed by Piccolo and Gotenks.

舞空術 Bukûjutsu One of the coolest - and most widely used - abilities in the DB universe. That is, the ability to fly. It is introduced by none other than Tenshinhan and Chaozu at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budôkai, and soon after, all of the heroes can do it. It is not a difficult skill to master, as even Videl learned under Gohan’s tutelage.

マシンガン突き Mashin Gan Zuki Tenshinhan backs his victim against a wall and then delivers a series of machine gun-fast punches and jabs. A surefire way to overcome an opponent, but unfortunately it will take more than that to defeat Son Goku!

魔封波 Mafûba Used long ago by Mutaito, the Mafûba is a special technique that seals demons in a mystical jar but also kills its user. Many years later, the same demon - Piccolo Daimaô - is released and Kame-sennin dies trying to use the Mafûba. Tenshinhan takes up the reins, struggling desperately to master the difficult technique.
